Mr President - Change in America and Germany
Stanislaw
Tillich, the
first elected Sorbian Minister President, welcomed U.S. President Barack
Obama in the Saxon capital Dresden. America leapfrogs Germany as global
CleanTech player. Lusatia is culturally vibrant and has rich natural
resources, including abundant water and mineral resources. It also has
skilled people. Already in May 2002 HALO turned the international media
focus on Lusatia. With a Sorb reception at Buckingham
Palace and an international press conference at the London based
Foreign Press Association HALO spearheaded a robust renewables growth
campaign for Lusatia. One of Germany's oldest minorities, Sorbs cultivated
Lusatia more than 1600 years ago. We
never surrendered, resisting several resource
plundering dictators. Today Sorbian culture and Lusatia are under threat
from excessive open cast brown coal mining. German coal power plants
are the largest European CO2 emitters, fuelling Climate Change. It is
high time for real change, a sustainable power change in Europe and
beyond.
